Wandering up a trail in the mountains, I happened across these two people, one of whom was clearly new to the area. The other was pointing out various landmarks of the valley below. They sat in the early evening, as the sun set behind them. Really, a picture captivating and engaging image. Captured on medium format 6x6 reversal film, this image embodies the spirit of adventure. This image was shot in the middle of Los Angeles, in Runyan Canyon Park.

As part of a series of images I shot at sunset, this one was shot on medium format 6x6 film using a Mamiya twin lens camera. A twin lens camera uses two lenses on top of each other, one to view the potential image with and one to shoot the image onto the film. Because of this, you never see the exact frame you shot until its developed, as theres a difference between what the two lenses will see. Thats why single lens reflex (SLR) cameras were invented, to solve that problem. However, this twin lens camera is so light and easy to carry, it makes a great walk-around camera, even if you are not sure of your framing.

Because it was shot on medium format transparency, it has resolution for days. Scanned on a top of the line drum scanner, its blacks are crisp and its tonal range it wonderful. It is very difficult to capture the ball of the sun in the narrow rage of transparency film, but this film did great and the scan does not let down. This is available up to 8 foot by 8 foot size - and it is worth putting on your wall.  Because this is a perfectly square image, it will fit in many places where a rectangular image just wont work.

Choose below from metal print sizes, listed in width x height. All prints are personally inspected by the artist and custom signed, if chosen. They are numbered on the back, and come with a certificate of authenticity. The prints are ready to hang, and come with a couple of hanging options. Custom sizes not listed here are available, as are other mediums. Please contact us for details.
